New comfort food to celebrate Australia Day!
Hello 2021! We're celebrating Australia Day this year, as we have masterfully reimagined the gyoza, one of our food's favourite appetizers with vegemite as the hero ingredient in our dipping sauce. You can’t get much more Aussie than vegemite and the taste is memorable.
Our chef Robert at Fugetsu says, “We are excited to see the arrival of 2021 and feel gratitude for being in Australia after what we all went through last year. This year, we wanted to create a dish that celebrates our two cultures using two comfort foods. As a child, I used to eat gyoza after school and would love to eat it all day if I could. I believe vegemite on toast is the same food for Australians.”
Robert has achieved this unique Australian/Japanese fusion by delicately balancing Vegemite with traditional Japanese dipping sauce ingredients such as soy and miso that have been passed down to him from his mother.
“A great dipping sauce can make, or break a dish, or just take it to a whole new level. Vegemite is a flavour that brings an instant umami taste. Naturally, this was the first choice when I was searching for the hero ingredient when developing our Aussie Gyoza dipping sauce”, says Robert.
The Aussie Gyoza has three different filling options, you’ll have a choice of succulent pork, prawns, or vegetarian, available now for a limited time only.
